Economist, banker, and industrial leader — 40+ years driving growth, creating jobs, and championing education across Nigeria.

Mohammed Hayatu-Deen (OON) is an internationally honoured economist, banker, and industrial turnaround specialist with over four decades of leadership across Nigeria's public and private sectors.
In 2000, he was awarded Nigeria's second highest civilian honour — the Order of the Niger — by President Olusegun Obasanjo. He chaired the Transition Committee on the Economy for President Buhari's incoming administration in 2015, and has served on the Presidential Advisory Council, the National Council on Privatisation, and the National Council of Vision 2010.
As CEO and later Chairman of FSB International Bank Plc (1990–2004), he transformed a distressed government savings institution into a fully operational commercial bank — widely recognised as the most successful turnaround and privatisation in Nigerian history. FSB was acquired by Fidelity Bank, contributing to the creation of one of Nigeria's top 10 banks.
Through the Alpine Group, which he founded in 2005, he delivered the Ado Bayero Mall in Kano — a US$110 million development and the first ultra-modern shopping mall in northern Nigeria.
He served two terms as Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), and holds a BSc in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University with executive education from Harvard Business School, London Business School, and INSEAD France.
He currently chairs the Renaissance Development Forum, funding efforts to tackle the crisis of out-of-school children in Nigeria and supporting post-insurgency reconstruction in Borno State.
Like many Nigerians, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen wants a safer, more prosperous future — and has taken the decision to join the ADC as the vehicle for change.
